Ramsden hits kent time 

Faversham Swimming Club scooped an avalanche of records and personal best times at Rochester’s 17th Annual Open Invitation Gala  held at Medway Park Sports Centre, Gillingham.

Faversham’s squad comprised of 17 of their finest swimmers including super speedy eleven year old Blaine Ramsden who’s blistering pace in the 11 to 12 year old boys 50 metre backstroke race gave him a much deserved Kent time of  39.40. Whilst nine year old Nicola Crouch shattered Faversham Swimming Club’s record in the womens open 100 metre breaststroke in a staggering time of 2.01.76.

Faversham’s swimmers produced some remarkable performances, although they were unable to snatch any first place positions. Silver trophies were awarded to Richard Catton in the boys 9 to 10 year old 50 metre backstroke, Ben Collins boys 13 to 14 years 100 metre backstroke and 100 metre freestyle (Personal best time of 1.08.60).

Well deserved bronze trophies went to Richard Catton boys 9 to 10 years 50 metre  freestyle (P.B. 36.84), Marty Boorman boys 13 to 14 years 100 metre breaststroke (P.B. 1.32.96) and Ben Collins boys 13 to 14 years 100 metre butterfly.

4th place winners were Harry McKenna boys 9 to 10 years 50 metre butterfly (P.B.53.77), Flora Westlake girls 11 to 12 years 50 metre breaststroke and Marty Boorman boys 13 to 14 years 100 metre butterfly (P.B. 1.34.93).

Swimmers claiming 5th place were Harry McKenna boys 9 to 10 years 50 metre backstroke ( P.B.52.20), Flora Westlake womens open 100 metre breaststroke (P.B.1.35.06), Rebecca Crouch womens open 100 metre butterfly and Ben Collins boys 13 to 14 years 100 metre breaststroke (P.B. 1.38.03).

Those rewarded with 6th place were Nicola Crouch girls 9 to 10 years 50 metre breaststroke, Marty Boorman boys 13 to 14 years 100 metre freestyle (P.B.1.15.77) and 100 metre backstroke (P.B.1.33.15), Joanne Hawkins womens open 100 metre backstroke and 100 metre breaststroke.

Head Coach Sharon Wenn was elated with the swimmers efforts and commented “ The squad produced some hard swims to gain eighteen top six places, well done to Blaine Ramsden in gaining his 50 metre backstroke Kent time.

Other swimmers with personal best times were Nicola Crouch girls 50 metre freestyle (42.56), Harry McKenna boys 50 metre freestyle (42.72), Lauren Scott girls 50 metre freestyle (43.73), 50 metre butterfly (51.86) and 50 metre backstroke (50.80). Chloe Bullard girls 50 metre butterfly (48.06) and 50 metre freestyle (42.37), Alice Searley girls 50 metre butterfly (48.74) and 50 metre freestyle (38.44). Poppy Boorman girls 50 metre breaststroke (53.65) and 50 metre freestyle (43.73), Jessica Hawkins girls 50 metre breaststroke (54.12), Rebecca Crouch girls 50 metre backstroke (40.07), Keeley Wrench girls 50 metre breaststroke (49.71) and 50 metre butterfly (46.95). Molly McKenna girls 50 metre breaststroke (50.26), 50 metre butterfly (42.27) and 50 metre freestyle (35.84).

Clubs participating in the Open were Beachfield, Beckenham, Black Lion, City of Rochester, Folkestone, Les Tritons, Maidstone, RTW Monson, Sevenoaks and White Oak.

Swimmers, Parents/Carers Agreement and Code of Conduct

 

Faversham Swimming Club aims to teach and promote all aspects of swimming within a safe environment for both staff and swimmers. The purpose of the Code of Conduct is to establish a set of guidelines outlining the responsibilities and behaviour of all members of the club. This should maintain the club’s reputation as a friendly and disciplined organisation and to ensure that all swimming activities are carried out safely, effectively and with respect and due care to all other swimmers and staff.

 

Behaviour should at all times be of a high standard, reflecting favourably on the sport and the club.


As a member/swimmer of Faversham Swimming Club I agree to the following:


To attend swimming sessions regularly ensuring you have all necessary equipment e.g. Goggles, fins, swim hats and appropriate swimwear (no baggy shorts or bikinis).

To arrive for swimming sessions punctually, inform your coach of any health issues and show membership card on arrival.

To treat all club members, staff, fellow competitors and officials with consideration and respect and not participate in any bullying, discrimination, harassment or physical violence.

Report any concerns to Club Welfare Officer, Head Coach/Swimming Instructor or Committee Member.

To respect property belonging to other swimmers and the swimming pool complex.

To behave in a responsible and orderly manner in the shower area and changing rooms, which should be cleared as quickly as possible after each training session.

To listen carefully when staff members are talking and follow instructions.

To ensure language is always appropriate and socially acceptable.

Squad members should attend at least two training sessions each week, compete in home/away galas when selected and enter the Club Championships.

Mobile telephones and cameras are not permitted to be used poolside or in the changing areas unless authorised by a member of staff.

Repeated breach of this code will result in written warnings to parents/carers . After two warnings, should a swimmers behaviour fail to improve, the committee may decide to suspend or cancel his/her membership.
