Collins Collects Medal TrebleFaversham swimming Club entered fifteen of their finest swimmers in the Maidstone Open held at Mote Park, Maidstone. Faversham’s swimmers were on fine form, bringing home a mass of medals. Fifteen year old Ben Collins wowed the crowd with some impressive performances, his blistering pace in the 100 metre backstroke warranted him a silver medal, stopping the clock in a time of 1.18.82. Ben snapped up a forth place win in the 100 metre freestyle in 1.07.81 and collected forth again in the 100 metre butterfly with a time of 1.17.47. He also took part in the 50 metre butterfly (35.11), 50 metre backstroke (35.48) and 50 metre freestyle (31.34). Thirteen year old Molly McKenna snatched a fourth place medal in the girls 100 metre butterfly touching home in a time of 1.33.09, she also competed in the 100 metre freestyle (1.14.99). Emily Holt received a fifth place medal for her dash in the girls 50 metre breaststroke in a time of 49.92, her other races included the 50 metre backstroke (47.02) and 50 metre freestyle (40.58). Harry Mckenna collected a fifth place medal in the boys 50 metre butterfly (45.92), Harry also raced in the 50 metre backstroke (46.64), breaststroke (53.98) and freestyle (39.18). Molly Stemp grabbed fifth place in the girls 50 metre breaststroke (45.92) and competed in the 50 metre backstroke (45.69). A fifth place medal was won by Joe Wall in the boys 11 years 50 metre butterfly (41.92), he also took part in the 50 metre backstroke (45.61). Rebecca Crouch was rewarded a fifth place medal in the girls 13 years 100 metre backstroke (1.24.19), Rebecca also competed in the 50 metre backstroke (38.60), 100 metre freestyle (1.13.63) and 50 metre freestyle (32.90). A sixth place medal went to Richard Catton in the boys 11 years 50 metre backstroke (41.84), he also took part in the 50 metre butterfly (45.39), whilst Blaine Ramsden received sixth place in the boys 12 years 100 metre backstroke (1.23.77)and also competed in the 100 metre freestyle (1.14.01). Faversham’s other swimmers who participated at the Open were Nicola Crouch in the 50 metre butterfly (46.04), backstroke (49.83), breaststroke (51.38) and freestyle (39.42). Alice Searley 100 metre individual medley (1.32.49) and 100 metre freestyle (1.23.22). Flora Westlake girls 100 metre breaststroke (1.33.25). Joanne Hawkins girls fifteen years 100 metre breaststroke (1.36.70), freestyle (1.14.78), 50 metre backstroke (38.65) and 100 metre backstroke (1.22.37). Jasmine Locke girls fifteen years 50 metre butterfly (41.77) and 100 metre freestyle (1.20.18). Marty Boorman mens open 100 metre individual medley (1.18.69). Other clubs competing at the Open included Black Lion, Dover, Folkestone, Maidstone, Margate, Orpington Ojays, Petts Wood and Sevenoaks. |
