Joseph Bags The Gold At Open
Faversham Swimming Club made waves at the recent White Oak Open held at Bexleyheath. Faversham entered no less than nine of their elite swimmers who achieved 9 top six placings. Including nine year old Joseph Russell who’s top performances earned him a gold medal in the boys 50 metre breaststroke in a personal best time of 47.67, smashing 9 seconds off his previous time. Joseph grabbed his second gold in the 50 metre freestyle in a further personal best time of 36.20.
A silver medal went to Ben Collins in the boys 15 years 100 metre backstroke with a personal best time of 1.15.92. Ben also collected a bronze medal in the 100 metre freestyle. Fourth place winners were Joanne Hawkins in the girls 15 years 100 metre breaststroke in a personal best time of 1.35.27, whilst Rebecca Crouch received her 4th place win in the girls 100 metre backstroke with a personal best time 1.22.00. Nine year old Richard Ellis seized5th place in the boys 50 metre freestyle in a time of 46.41. Joanne Hawkins picked up a further medal in the girls 15 years 100 metre backstroke claiming 6th place in a time of 1.21.29, whilst eleven year old Molly Stemp obtained her 6th place win in the girls 50 metre breaststroke in a personal best time of 46.28.
Other personal best times were achieved by Ben Collins mens open 50 metre butterfly (34.75), Ben Wall boys 9 years 50 metre butterfly (55.18), Eva McIntyre girls 9 years 50 metre breaststroke (59.56) and 50 metre freestyle (43.82). Joanne Hawkins girls 15 years 100 metre freestyle (1.13.61), Molly Stemp womens open 50 metre breaststroke (47.33) and girls 11 years 50 metre freestyle (42.30), Olivia Hawkins girls 12 years 100 metre backstroke (1.24.84) and womens open 50 metre butterfly (42.06). Rebecca Crouch womens open 50 metre backstroke (38.21) and girls 13 years 100 metre freestyle (1.14.04) and Richard Ellis boys 9 years 50 metre breaststroke (58.09).
