CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS CHAMPIONS

The Saturday nights of the 3rd of March and the 24th March saw a fantastic two part Club Championships for the Faversham swimmers. There was a fantastic turn out of swimmers for both events with some nail bitingly close races and some fantastic swims by all who took part. As always the children showed fantastic team spirit with noise levels reaching a maximum as they cheered each other on from the edge of the pool.

There was particularly loud cheering for Ollie Bellerby Brown who was the youngest competitor, aged 8. He swam in the boys 25m backstroke, freestyle and breaststroke where he was in the pool by himself achieving great times and smiling all the way!

Gina Waugh, Jessica Perkins, Violet Barnicott, Amber Gavin, William Roe and Zeno Burns all swam in the 9 year old races and although there were lots of nerves at the start, they all ended with brilliant swims and happy faces.

The older children showed their usual tenacity and enthusiasm for their swims with fantastic times and medals all round.

The nail-biting SKINS competition took us the end of the competition, where the fastest girls compete against each other closely followed by the fastest boys. A coloured ball is selected from a bag and the children have to use the corresponding stroke. The girls’ competition was nail-biting stuff with Neve Smith, Bella Holt, Molly Fletcher-Hebden, Eva McIntyre, Mia Kirk and Emily Holt all putting in fabulous swims which saw Emily Holt taking the first place prize of £15.00.

The boys’ competition was between Thomas Russell, Harry Miles, Ethan Sharman, Samuel Hawkins, Max Fordyce and Nathan Williams. Again the races were tense and all 6 boys swam to the best of their ability. Nathan Williams was victorious and claimed the prize money.

Two fantastic Saturday evenings which saw all of the coaches and volunteers feeling incredibly proud of the team spirit, effort and resilience shown by all of the swimmers.
