Black Lion Spring Open
The Faversham Swimming Club team had another cracking weekend of swimming at the Black Lion Spring Open event last Saturday and Sunday. As always the commitment and dedication to the team shone through in all of the swimmers and there were some awesome swims. Two swimmers (Mia Kirk and Molly Fordyce) managed, to their obvious delight, to earn PBs that they have been chasing for a long time. Mia in the Girls 15+ Freestyle and Molly in the 9 year Freestyle.
There were three PB’s each for Jenna Appleton in the Girls 11 years 100m IM, 50m Backstroke and 100m Freestyle and for Luke Butterfill in the 100m IM, 100m Freestyle and 50m Butterfly. Both had really strong swims and reflected the hard work that they have been putting in to their training.
Neve Smith represented the club in 5 different races in the girls 11 years category and PB’d in all of her races with a Club Record also broken in the 100m IM. Isabella Holt sped her way to a Club Record in the Girls 12 years 100m Freestyle and a PB in the 50m Butterfly with two fantastic swims.
There were a huge array of medals, PB’s and Club records from Eva McIntyre, Emily Holt, Amy Coupe, Emily Ing, Max Fordyce and Molly Fletcher Hebden who all cheered each other on loudly and showed great determination and speed in all of their races.
Mazie Kilgannon put aside her nerves and had a great swim in the Girls 50m 10 years Backstroke. Keira Drury swam the most races over the weekend, representing the club 6 times and still managing to PB in the Girls 9years 100m Freestyle. There were great swims for the three boys, Ethan Sharman, Harry Miles and Philip Rafeletos.
As always, the coaches were extremely proud of all of the team with the commitment to their training, the support that they show for each other and the improvements in their times. Roll on the next weekend of swimming !!
