On Saturday the 30th June 2018, Faversham Swimming Club held their Development Sprint Gala and invited teams from Ashford, Black Lion, Dover and Hythe . It was a fabulous evening, the sun shone brightly the hotdogs and burgers were wolfed down and the children swam to the best of their ability.
The event started with the Mixed Squadron Breaststroke relay where ten swimmers worked fantastically as a team and earnt the club a 3rd place overall.
There were five club records smashed throughout the evening : Neve Smith for the 11 years Freestyle, Sophie Molton for the 14 years Backstroke, Oliver Edwards for the 14 years Breaststroke, Eva McIntyre for the 15 years Breaststroke and Mia Kirk for the 16 years Freestyle. A huge congratulations to each of these swimmers.
There were a huge amount of PBs throughout the evening, with first place swims from Scott Pearce in the boys 12 years and under butterfly, Sophie Molton in the Girls 14 years and under Backstroke, Harry Miles in the Boys 11 years Butterfly, Eva McIntyre in the Girls 18 years Breaststroke and Neve Smith in the Girls 11 years Freestyle.
The evening ended with impressive results across the board. Black Lion came first with 234, Dover were second with 219, Ashford were third with 204, Faversham were fourth with 201 and Hythe were 5th with 151.
The Tesco Awards went to Lewis Edwards for his fantastic swimming and team work and to Amy Coupe for her contribution to the team in each of her events.
A huge well done to all of the swimmers that took part in this event. As always their dedication, commitment, team spirit and enjoyment shone through as brightly as the sun did !!
