SHEERNESS RON CROWDER MEMORIAL GALA
Faversham Swimming Club had an incredibly strong team swimming in the Ron Crowder Memorial Gala on Saturday 20th October at Sheerness Swimming Pool. The children all swam amazingly well and all of the coaches were very proud of them. They finished the evening with a second place overall. Head Coach Paul Holt said that this was a sign of the clubs vision of the future being bright and smashing the “small club” persona.
The evening began with a bang, with lots of extremely loud cheering from the team and spectators as they swam the 12X1 Breaststroke relay with a very pleasing second place earned.
Oliver Edwards then had a super swim in the boys 15 years 2 lengths front crawl with a PB and a first place earnt in a time of 28.13. This first place was quickly replicated by William Roe in the Boys 9 years Backstroke, Neve Smith in the Girls 12 years Butterfly, Bella Holt in the Girls 14 years Breaststroke, Scott Pearce in the Boys 13 years Backstroke, Eliza Mills in the Girls 13 years Front crawl, Eva McIntyre in the Girls 15 years Breaststroke and Molly Fordyce in the Girls 9 years Breaststroke to name just a few.
There were PB’s and Club Records broken by many of the swimmers, Bella Holt broke the Girls 12 years Breaststroke and Oliver Edwards, the 14 years Backstroke.
The two prestigious club trophies were presented by Paul Holt at the end of the evening, in discussion with all of the other poolside coaches. Amber Gavin was awarded the Tesco Gala Star as it was her first time competing in a team gala and she had only just recently passed her diving licence. Oliver Edwards received the Tesco Shield as he led from the front, swam up an age group on more than one occasion and showed a great team ethic.
A huge well done to all swimmers who competed at this event.
